Taco Party
Taco Party Identity Design
This is what a passion project looks like. Often you can only wish for a perfect client to come along, so sometimes I take it into my own hands and redesign a brand that I feel connected with. In this case it was a vegan taco restaurant I frequent.
The visual identity draws inspiration from the timeless artistry of vintage sailor tattoos, but with a playful twist that pays homage to the original inked traditions. This reinterpretation, or "taco-isation," infuses a sense of fun and irreverence into the iconic imagery. The deliberate infusion of a slightly edgy aesthetic also echoes the owner's background in the music industry, bridging the worlds of music and approachable, vegan fast food.
Rather than overtly screaming "vegan," it subtly conveys the restaurant's ethos through imagery and language. Words like "forage" and the inclusion of plant motifs within the illustrations offer a gentle nod to the vegan philosophy without overwhelming or alienating potential patrons. This approach ensures that the brand identity remains inviting and inclusive, appealing to a broad spectrum of individuals while staying true to the core values of veganism and Taco Party's unique character.
Although this project never got to be fully realized, it brought me joy to recreate an identity through illustrations and logo designs. In conclusion, eat tacos, be merry, and wash it down with some tequila.
